Autumn/Winter ’25 at Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo

As part of Rakuten’s “by R” project, we presented our forthcoming AW25 collection in a catwalk show at Tokyo Fashion Week.

Following on from the success of our Paris presentation in January, we brought our forthcoming AW25 collection to Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo. Not only is Tokyo one of Paul’s favourite places – somewhere he’s visited more than a hundred times – the city’s unique style and culture has also served as an inexhaustible source of inspiration over the years, making this a very special occasion for Paul and the entire team.

Appearing as part of Rakuten’s “by R” project, which seeks to support and develop the Japanese fashion industry, the catwalk show underlined our decades-long connection to the country. Presenting looks for both men and women, we welcomed attendees into the world of our latest collection, inspired by the art of image making. A rich, inky palette borrows the liquid tones of Saul Leiter’s colour photography, while the slightly unkempt approach to tailored clothing nods to the personal uniforms of some of the 20th century’s most iconic photographers: David Bailey, Terence Donovan, and William Eggleston.

The show also included an advanced look at Paul Smith Loves Barbour, our forthcoming collaboration. You can see every look from the show below.

Autumn/Winter ‘25 Men’s Show

For our AW25 collection, we look to the other side of the lens, focusing on the personal style of some of the 20th century’s most influential photographers. Elegant tailoring fabrics and classic silhouettes are subverted through subtle pattern clashes, gently exaggerated proportions, and unexpected textures.
