Year in Review: 2024
Join us as we cast our minds back to some of our favourite stories, campaigns, events and collaborations from this year.
The end of the year is typically a time for reflection, for looking back, and so we’re taking the opportunity to return to some of our favourite stories from throughout 2024. It was a characteristically packed year for us, with lots to shout about. There were first-time collaborations as well as continued projects with old friends. A two-part exhibition traced the history of Paul Smith tailoring, and our first full cycling collection launched with the help of some friends at Herne Hill Velodrome. On top of that we made a successful return to Pitti Uomo, and Paul appeared in the pages of Esquire. Before we leap headlong into 2025, let’s look back at some of the year’s best moments.
Man Utd's Star Players Wear Paul Smith
For more than a decade we’ve been proud to be the official tailoring partner of Manchester United, providing the matchday suits for team and staff. In February, we photographed some of their star players – including Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, and Rasmus Højlund – in tailored looks from our spring collection.

Paul Smith + The Rug Company: Stripe and Swirl
Another long-running collaboration, our work with the Rug Company continued with a new collection of luxurious hand-knotted rugs based around our Stripe and Swirl designs. An AI-generated campaign imagined the rugs in fantastical, unreal gallery spaces.

As Seen in Esquire: Five Fits with Paul Smith
A lifelong clotheshorse, Paul is no stranger to being photographed, and while in New York back in April he was featured in Esquire’s ‘Five Fits With…’ series. Communicating his personal style through five outfits, he also shared his fashion philosophy with Esquire’s Chris Fenimore.

SS25 Men’s Show
In June we made our triumphant return to Pitti Uomo, with a very special show at Florence’s historic Villa Favard. The forthcoming collection was presented by Paul in person, who delighted attendees with stories of Soho in the ‘60s – a rich artistic milieu which serves as the season’s main inspiration.

Worn In, Not Worn Out: Reviving an Item from the Archive
We took a much-loved (and much-worn) jacket from our archive and gave it new life. The boating blazer from our Spring/Summer 2008 collection had seen better days after more than 15 years of wear and tear, but thanks to the diligent care and attention of our team, it was restored to its former glory

The Paul Smith Cycling Collection
In September we launched our first full cycling collection, including jerseys, bib shorts, hats, gloves, socks, and jackets. To mark the occasion, we worked with the historic Herne Hill Velodrome in south London – possibly the oldest velodrome in the world – gathering a group of six cyclists from their tightly knit community to model the kit. On an overcast afternoon we sent this impromptu peloton for a few laps around the track and captured the action as it unfolded.

Artek Reimagined by Paul Smith
If it’s well made and cleverly designed, it will probably appeal to Paul. No wonder, then, that he’s long been a fan of the work of Finnish design legends Alvar and Aino Aalto, and their beloved furniture brand, Artek. Earlier this year we introduced our collaboration with Artek, which combined their famous precision and understatement with our love of the playful and unexpected.

A Frame Around a Picture: Six Decades of Paul Smith Tailoring
October saw the opening of a two-part global exhibition celebrating our history of unique and innovative tailoring. One half, entitled Dressing the Greats, took place in our Melrose Avenue shop in LA, and focused on the red carpet looks we’ve created for some of the biggest names in film and music. The other half, Six Decades of Paul Smith Tailoring, happened in Tokyo and presented a deep dive into the Paul Smith archive: jackets constructed inside out, photogram-printed moleskin, skirts made out of ties – all manner of sartorial mischief was on display.
